This week, the homework for all our studio actors is to practice your 'Emotional Scales' - at least once a day. Here's how to do it:
See or hear something that provokes emotion.
Notice what emotion happens authentically.
Talk to yourself (silent speech) in your head and see if you can increase that emotion. Try to move the emotion up the scale to a more fully felt level. From a 2 or 3 to an 8, 9, or 10.
End. Reflect back on what triggers got you farther up the scale. Know how to work your emotional muscle through thought. Then repeat, once daily.
Remember to think about happy emotions, too -- like AW, Attraction, lust, love, joy...
